[00:45:27] <sinistersnare> im a highschool senior, and have recently been looking into jython for gaming!
[00:45:53] <sinistersnare> but now irc is on my main monitor now!
[00:46:24] <sinistersnare> specifically using the libgdx java framework. Its really cool, and I want to see how it goes!
[02:58:28] <streety> libgdx is new to me but looks like an interesting project
[03:03:14] <streety> I've been using jython recently - initially I feared it would be too slow for my needs but it did encourage me to seek out an improved algorithm
[03:04:31] <streety> strangely, porting the code to Java was very fast ... until it crashed running out of memory. Not quite sure what was happening there
[03:05:24] <streety> sinistersnare: is jython the recommended approach to using libgdx? or just one of the options?
[04:03:00] <sinistersnare> streety, im the first one to try jython and libgdx :p theres some guy who keeps tweeting me about using it with different editors since i made the libgdx wiki page on it though!
[04:03:40] <sinistersnare> i did the python work, a nice guy from #scala helped with the scala libgdx, and theres been a good amount of clojure work already done, i just made the article!
[04:04:10] <sinistersnare> jython has the potential to be faster and more efficient than CPython, due to the JVM, but they dont have the resources to work on that
[04:04:59] <sinistersnare> yes they do :p its been really fun, and hopefully ill have more time to do programming since marching band ended; ive been so busy lately!
[04:05:18] <streety> I hadn't really looked into the performance comparisons of Jython vs CPython, more Java vs Jython
[04:06:07] <sinistersnare> yes, there are a couple of hiccups, but they are just about to add SSL to get pip working! only a couple weeks (i hear) until 2.7beta 2!
[04:06:32] <sinistersnare> and i talked to one of the head maintainers, he said that they might just skip to py~3.3, try and catch up!
[04:07:19] <sinistersnare> yep, so are you gonna be there tomorrow? Ive never driven through DC by myself, what is it near?
[04:08:10] <streety> almost definitely. I need to make time to pack for a flight on Wednesday but I think I'll make it
[04:08:42] <sinistersnare> Awesome! I'm really excited! None of my friends are programmers, let alone python programmers, so I cant wait to talk about programming!
[04:08:46] <streety> Data analysis is what I use Python for most
[04:09:06] <sinistersnare> Cool, I havent done any (no data to analyze!) but i think itll be a great talk!
[04:09:22] <streety> I usually get the metro down, it's really conveniently located and I work beside another metro station
[04:09:32] <sinistersnare> oh thats a good idea. Which color?
