#pypa-dev logs for Wednesday the 28th of May, 2014

(Back to #pypa-dev overview) (Back to channel listing) (Animate logs)
[06:04:45] <pmxbot> jaraco pushed 3 commits to setuptools (https://bitbucket.org/pypa/setuptools/) :
[06:04:45] <pmxbot> Suppress arguments to __new__. ZipFile doesn't want them, and object deprecates them.
[06:04:45] <pmxbot> simplify ContextualZipFile implementation and avoid DeprecationWarnings
[06:04:45] <pmxbot> Merge (preferring custom constructor for selecting the canonical implementation on modern Pythons
[06:30:06] <Ivo> gah, even my own py32 just hangs in tox
[07:54:21] <xafer> Ivo, yup same for me: it seems it does not like the 404 on http://pypi.appspot.com/INITools
[07:55:13] <Ivo> seems like that needs to be fixed
[07:55:21] <Ivo> its still using mirroring...
[07:55:50] <Ivo> jezdez, dstufft: you have any idea who owns that domain? ^
[09:57:51] <jezdez> Ivo: pypi.appspot.com?
[09:57:53] <jezdez> not sure, it was one of the main mirrors when we still had them
[09:57:55] <jezdez> you may be able to find some info about the maintainer on the distutils-sig list
[13:12:37] <pf_moore> What's the deal with travis for pip at the moment? Python 3.2 and 3.3 seem to be continually failing for weird reasons (timeout?) :-(
[13:14:48] <xafer> http://pypi.appspot.com/INITools returns a 404 and the script.pip('install', ...) gets stuck
[13:15:00] <xafer> (at least for 3.2)
[13:18:03] <xafer> I'd says it comes from scripttest but didnt have the time to narrow it down
[13:27:12] <pf_moore> xafer: thanks, I can't reproduce it locally and also don't have the time, so I'll ignore it for now...
[15:23:48] <dstufft> Hmm, I haven't been working on it at all lately, but apparently the german thing I was doing did something, I got the gist of pieces of this twitter thread jezdez put me in without having to translate it via google (not much mind you, but little fragments)
[15:24:28] <jezdez> dstufft: nice!
[15:24:41] <jezdez> lemme know whenever you want to train your german ;)
[15:25:02] <jezdez> I rarely tweet in german, except for those that I know both in RL and twitterland
[15:25:42] <dstufft> What does dankjewell mean, google translate doesn't bring anything up. I'm assuming it's some kind of thank you since it seems to have a root in danke
[15:26:27] <jezdez> dstufft: honestly, I haven't heard of it as well
[15:26:38] <jezdez> I think diez is from cologne where this may be a thing
[15:26:57] <jezdez> looks dutch to me
[15:27:05] <jezdez> http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/dank_je_wel there we go
[15:27:13] <jezdez> no idea why he says that
[15:27:19] <dstufft> ah
[15:28:10] <dstufft> I should work on that some more, I haven't had much time lately. I was using a phone app, Duo Lingo heh
[15:31:31] <jezdez> yeah
[15:31:39] <jezdez> yeah, I tried learning italian with that
[15:31:44] <jezdez> then got lazy :-/
[15:56:24] <jaraco> by the way...
[15:56:28] <jaraco> !translate |en danke
[15:56:39] <jaraco> bah
