(Back to #pypa-dev overview) (Back to channel listing) (Animate logs)
[09:30:10] <pradyunsg> !logs
[09:30:10] <pmxbot> http://kafka.dcpython.org/channel/pypa-dev
[12:31:21] <jaraco> Packaging sprints are kicking off in Room 10 at Cleveland Conference Center.
[12:32:04] <jaraco> https://pad.sfconservancy.org/p/gDHkDUtfi5
[12:41:41] <jaraco> pip has 19 “good first issues” https://github.com/pypa/pip/issues?q=is%3Aopen+is%3Aissue+label%3A%22good+first+issue%22
[12:43:15] <jaraco> And warehouse has 10: https://github.com/pypa/warehouse/issues?q=is%3Aopen+is%3Aissue+label%3A%22good+first+issue%22
[12:56:50] <thea> I'm here in room 10 as well. PyPUG has issues tagged for newcomers: https://github.com/pypa/python-packaging-user-guide/issues?q=is%3Aopen+is%3Aissue+label%3Afor-first-timers
[13:31:00] <di_codes> Moving to 26B!!
[14:20:23] <shauna> I'm attempting to build the project and getting a "TypeError: build() got an unexpected keyword argument 'stream'" error. A little googling suggests this may be a versioning issue with Docker -- is this a known problem with a known fix?
[14:21:29] <thea> shauna: which project? Warehouse?
[14:21:39] <shauna> Yes, Warehouse.
[14:23:44] <thea> di_codes can maybe help
[14:25:34] <shauna> It looks like it's the same issue as https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/57550 and https://github.com/ansible/ansible/issues/35612
[14:34:09] <shauna> Does anyone know if Python uses Docker Python? It doesn't seem like it, but that's where the Ansible and ArchLinux issues are.
[14:34:23] <shauna> If *warehouse uses Docker Python. (Typed too fast!)
[15:01:46] <mbacchi> bizhang: hey!
[15:01:59] <bizhang> mbacchi, yo!
[15:22:58] <thea> sigmavirus24: o/ Can I get merge rights to twine? (already checked with sumana) - just to help w/ sprints and mostly reviewing testing / static typing changes. (github username is @theacodes)
[15:56:23] <sigmavirus24> thea: on it!
[16:00:50] <thea> :)
[16:00:59] <thea> thanks, @sigmavirus24
[16:22:09] <sigmavirus24> you're welcome, thea !
[16:29:42] <LyndsySimon> Anyone have thoughts on my picking up this as my first issue for PyCon sprints? https://github.com/pypa/warehouse/issues/2877
[16:57:11] <di_codes> LyndsySimon: yes that's great! Honza Kral is here from elastic and would be able to pair with you on that
[17:03:16] <LyndsySimon> di_codes: Cool :) I’m having an issue at the moment with memory allocation for Docker. I have a... “unique” development environment, so it’s not really something that I’d expect someone else to be able to jump in and fix.
[17:03:53] <LyndsySimon> It’s an ArchLinux box, hosted on Vultr, accessed from an iPad. All that’s working well, but Vultr’s admin isn’t wanting to let me upgrade the box to have enough RAM to handle elastic.
[17:20:39] <sumanah> !logs
[17:20:39] <pmxbot> http://kafka.dcpython.org/channel/pypa-dev
[17:20:42] <LyndsySimon> Can I get a sanity check on this? My understanding is that docker limits RAM usage only on non-native systems (i.e., Windows and Mac). If you’re developing on Linux, this section is irrelevant: https://warehouse.readthedocs.io/development/getting-started/#running-the-warehouse-container-and-services
[17:20:57] <sumanah> https://pad.sfconservancy.org/p/gDHkDUtfi5 Etherpad for the Packaging minisummit happening right now
[17:25:42] <sumanah> pradyunsg: hey ^
[17:26:35] <sumanah> LyndsySimon: I think there are some Docker experts elsewhere in the room who are not on IRC
[17:26:50] <pradyunsg> sumanah: Thanks. :)
[17:27:14] <pradyunsg> Do I ping about things here?
[17:29:00] <sumanah> pradyunsg: What do you mean?
[17:30:10] <pradyunsg> I'm gonna be doing some writing for PyPUG. Do I ask questions here or on GH?
[17:45:32] <sumanah> pradyunsg: thea is on IRC here
[17:45:42] <sumanah> pradyunsg: thea is a good person to ask
[17:46:28] <pradyunsg> Perfect. :)
[17:48:45] <sumanah> sigmavirus24: hey there, how is it going
[17:54:20] <sumanah> LyndsySimon and other people who are in Room 26B for the sprint at PyCon: the packaging minisummit should end around 2:45pm
[18:21:31] <jaraco> !q add sumanah: Anarchy has more rules than PyPA.
[18:21:31] <pmxbot> Quote added!
[18:37:32] <sumanah> thea: did you get the commit bit for Twine?
[18:37:43] <thea> I did, sigmavirus24 hooked me up.
[18:37:51] <thea> mostly waiting on Travis right now. :|
[18:38:34] <sumanah> thea: great. sigmavirus24 or thea, could you announce somewhere?
[18:38:53] <thea> sure, announce how?
[18:39:08] <sumanah> thea: like on pypa-dev?
[18:39:50] <thea> sure - just saying that I've been added as a maintainer?
[18:40:09] <di_codes> thea: travis seems stalled for you as well?
[18:40:54] <thea> yeah Travis does throttling at the github org level.
[18:41:01] <thea> so likely all PyPA projects are stalled
[18:41:46] <thea> https://travis-ci.org/pypa doesn't appear we
[18:41:55] <thea> 're overloaded, so not sure what's going on.
[18:59:04] <di_codes> i sent an email to travis to see if we can get a temporary lift of the rate limit
[20:42:14] <thea> https://www.reddit.com/r/python/comments/8jd6aq ugh
[20:42:47] <thea> If I can get through security with enough time I'll reply to that thread, but wow there's a lot of negativity there.
[21:30:25] <thea> (I'm writing a response now)
[21:47:18] <thea> my response is here, would appreciate upvotes for visibility: https://www.reddit.com/r/Python/comments/8jd6aq/why_is_pipenv_the_recommended_packaging_tool_by/dyzduci/
