(Back to #pypa-dev overview) (Back to channel listing) (Animate logs)
[15:04:17] <sumanah> EWDurbin: dstufft: hey so per https://github.com/pypa/warehouse/issues/5247 we need to work on refreshing/potentially revising/getting acceptance for PEP 458, which is currently Deferred. I see the BDFL-Delegate is currently listed as Richard Jones. Do we need to update this?
[15:05:09] <EWDurbin> yes, donald is now the correct Delegate
[15:07:14] <sumanah> Aha!
[15:07:26] <sumanah> EWDurbin: so, he's coauthor as well as Delegate?
[15:07:56] <EWDurbin> sumanah: yes, awkwardly enough given the time that has passed since it was initially drafted.
[15:08:08] <sumanah> EWDurbin: Right -- ok
[15:08:10] <sumanah> I'll submit a PR
[15:08:41] <EWDurbin> IIRC, the delegation went guido, now steering council -> Nick (Packaging) -> Donald (PyPI)
[15:09:16] <sumanah> Got it!
[15:21:34] <sumanah> EWDurbin: dstufft: https://github.com/python/peps/pull/1177
[15:24:07] <sumanah> cooperlees: ^ check it out!
[15:27:19] <cooperlees> Cool. So TUF is the way we're going? Have people to do the work submitting applications? :O
[15:30:39] <sumanah> cooperlees: yes and yes
[15:30:48] <cooperlees> Sweet.
[15:30:58] <cooperlees> Powers that be here will be happy.
[15:31:10] <sumanah> cooperlees: I believe that the process of getting PEP 458 approved should be (I say this cautiously) smooth
[15:31:41] <sumanah> cooperlees: https://github.com/pypa/warehouse/issues/5247#issuecomment-535278176
[15:31:52] <sumanah> as I said there: Given the RFP timeline the latest we should get the PEP accepted is 2 December 2019, but I'd much prefer we get it accepted by mid-October.
[15:33:27] <cooperlees> Are data dog people helping too?
[15:33:34] <cooperlees> That's cool
[15:33:50] <sumanah> cooperlees: Trishank K., at Datadog, was one of the PEP coauthors! \o/
[15:34:26] <sumanah> Datadog is also hosting https://www.meetup.com/nycpython/events/265028634/
[15:34:31] <sumanah> just before PyGotham
[15:36:15] <sumanah> di_codes: tos9 jaraco woodruffw and any other people likely to be in NYC on Thursday Oct. 3rd: ^
[15:36:59] <cooperlees> Damn - Wonder if I should come.
[15:47:23] <tos9> sumanah: Cool, I caught that out of the corner of my eye but thanks for pinging it back over, yeah I should be ther!
[15:47:26] <tos9> *there
[15:47:33] <sumanah> Great!
[15:53:10] <sumanah> cooperlees: tos9: So that NYC Python event is an evening event that's for people of all skill levels. I'm trying to work out a hack _day_ thing for about 10am-5pm Thursday Oct 3rd someplace in NYC, for experts/maintainers, and will post in https://discuss.python.org/t/pygotham-talks-and-sprint-hackday/2018/ once I have news
[15:53:28] <sumanah> possibly Trishank at Datadog can host that too, possibly it'll be at an NYU campus in Brooklyn
[15:54:13] <cooperlees> Ok - yeah, i prob can't squeeze in a NYC trip unfortunately - I should of paid closer attention
[15:54:18] <cooperlees> My bad
[15:54:50] <sumanah> cooperlees: it happens :)
[15:55:23] <sumanah> cooperlees: hey at least you told us _now_ instead of accidentally ghosting us or -- worse -- causing the entire group to coalesce around 1 date, then have to move it and change a bunch of people's plans!
[15:56:03] <sumanah> (this is something Linus Torvalds did .... last year I think?)
[15:56:28] <sumanah> anyway. toad_polo ^ heads-up as well in case you can make Oct 3rd stuff
[15:57:40] <tos9> sumanah: Cool, that'd be nice too, will hold that day on my calendar.
[16:07:34] <sumanah> :)
