[14:34:45] <toad_polo> sumanah: Thanks, we had a great Thanksgiving, I hope you did as well. Would love to catch up some time and hear about your trip to India, hope your family is doing well.
[14:35:05] <toad_polo> sumanah: I'm almost always free for lunch if you ever want to come by the office.
[14:37:48] <toad_polo> EWDurbin di_codes Sorry if I created any headaches or bad press for y'all with my tweet. I probably should have predicted that people would see that as a "something must be done!" situation and not a more general PSA.
[14:38:02] <sumanah> toad_polo: My Thanksgiving was good too. A friend and I cooked a bit and it was really nice! And I shall endeavor to come by for lunch soon! (Telling you first, of course.)
[14:38:47] <toad_polo> I am thinking I might write a blog post about how sometimes someone can typo-squat with malicious code and it doesn't mean anything needs to change.
[14:39:15] <sumanah> toad_polo: right. Re: people thinking Something Must Be Done!: There is so much crap people can't do anything about, and then something like this comes along and it feels like, hey, maybe we can fix this!
[14:40:57] <toad_polo> Yeah, I think something could be done to improve the situation, but I'm not sure it's worth it, and the number of these incidents seems low enough that it would be hard to tell if your additional measures were doing anything anyway.
[14:41:18] <EWDurbin> toad_polo: no worries, it’s a known common pattern. and truthfully there is _something_ to be done, but no perfect solution :)
[14:44:11] <ronny> tos9: hopefully next weekend, i have to finalize some details and finish fixing a bug in the no more setup.py case
[20:39:45] <tos9> ronny: cool, sounds great
[21:14:46] <techalchemy> EWDurbin, just a reminder to let me know if you want me to follow up with either of those two people who i got in touch with
