(Back to #pypa-dev overview) (Back to channel listing) (Animate logs)
[02:14:04] <pradyunsg> pip 20.1b1 is out folks.
[02:21:57] <travis-ci> pypa/pip#15814 (master - 814c54f : Pradyun Gedam): The build passed.
[02:21:57] <travis-ci> Change view : https://github.com/pypa/pip/compare/7722cf05569d...814c54f5d7e1
[02:21:57] <travis-ci> Build details : https://travis-ci.org/pypa/pip/builds/677517483
[02:31:26] <pradyunsg> It feels weird to not have the issue tracker light up immediately after a release. I guess, that's how betas work?
[03:14:03] <toad_polo> Yeah no one's likely to see that until you do a proper deployment. Sad state of affairs.
[04:11:16] <zkanda> pradyunsg Wohoo, the release tag in github is not updated though. That's where I always look everyday to see if there's a new release came out.
[04:20:23] <zkanda> I'm dumb, it's actually there..
[16:24:22] <sumanah> techalchemy: hey how are you today?
[16:32:34] <alanbato> Hey sumanah, how's your morning been?
[16:33:01] <sumanah> alanbato: a bit hectic at first, and then better, thanks! maybe you saw https://pip.pypa.io/en/latest/news/ or https://discuss.python.org/t/announcement-pip-20-1b1-beta-release/3960 - the pip 20.1b1 beta is out
[16:33:04] <sumanah> how about you?
[17:00:04] <techalchemy> morning sumanah yeah i was looking at the pip beta this morning
[17:00:11] <sumanah> oh great! thank you
[17:00:46] <techalchemy> i need to react to pip releases since they break pip-shims which is used kind of widely i think
[17:00:51] <sumanah> true
[17:01:04] <techalchemy> not too much stuff breaks though with the beta it seems
[17:01:57] <techalchemy> i fixed whatever lingering issues i had btw, besides that one flaky test failure that keeps popping up
[17:02:08] <techalchemy> i had some bugs reported against requirementslib i think i need to fix before i can release also
[17:02:16] <techalchemy> s/fix/merge
[17:08:30] <sumanah> techalchemy: ok so I'll update the checklist to mention requirementslib issues to fix/PRs to merge
[17:08:58] <techalchemy> in theory it's just some other library we depend on and any can have bugs at release time i guess
[17:09:07] <techalchemy> but i happen to own that one so i can publish a fix first
[17:09:11] <techalchemy> also its kind of a critical one
[17:09:55] <sumanah> techalchemy: I'm gonna trust you on this that a requirementslib fix & release is a prerequisite to the pipenv release
[17:12:01] <sumanah> techalchemy: but you have several things you need to do in order to push out a pipenv prerelease and I am getting pretty concerned about whether it will be possible to happen today
[17:12:30] <sumanah> do you have a moment for a call techalchemy ?
[17:12:45] <techalchemy> sumanah, not yet, doing 3 of those things atm
[17:12:48] <sumanah> ok
[17:14:54] <sumanah> heading off for a lunch break
[17:24:32] <techalchemy> pradyunsg, did the behavior of 'get_installed_distributions' change recently
[18:23:57] <alanbato> sumanah: I was caught in meetings shortly after sending that message haha. Yes I saw the announcement, nice! I'm still working on that writeup for Draft Releases but I'm now watching every new thread/post on Packaging :)
[20:02:44] <sumanah> I'm back for another 60-90 min
[20:44:08] <sumanah> https://github.com/uranusjr/lock-file Tzu-Ping has started writing a proposal for a new lockfile
[20:58:19] <sumanah> discussion happening at https://discuss.python.org/t/structured-exchangeable-lock-file-format-requirements-txt-2-0/876/97
[21:08:47] <sumanah> catch y'all later
[21:49:26] <techalchemy> ,##[warning]The remote provider has asked us to wait until 4/21/2020 9:04:41 PM before attempting to provision a resource. This will cause delays in the running of this request.
