(Back to #pypa overview) (Back to channel listing) (Animate logs)
[02:15:58] <realz> <realz> hey fellas
[02:15:58] <realz> <realz> why does pypi sport a google "open id" signin button
[02:16:03] <realz> <realz> google no longer supports open id 2.0 login
[02:16:09] <realz> <realz> pypi should either use openid connect or take the icon away
[03:05:28] <tomprinc1> realz: The current incarnation of pypi is on life support.
[03:06:04] <tomprince> A replacement (https://github.com/pypa/warehouse) is being worked on.
[03:08:09] <realz> ah ok
[03:08:17] <realz> wow why is it on life support ;(
[03:08:46] <realz> and what is the time frame, if you happen to know
[03:09:34] <tomprince> I don't know the time frame.
[03:09:47] <jessamyn_> yay for new pypi
[03:09:51] <tomprince> The current code in unmaintainable.
[03:10:07] <tomprince> https://warehouse.python.org/ is a preview of the new one.
[03:10:18] <tomprince> Doesn't have login or anything yet, but nicer for viewing stuff.
[03:10:43] <tomprince> I think the current site might be a single huge py file.
[03:12:45] <realz> lol
[03:12:59] <realz> cool then, i am looking forward
[03:30:00] <realz> tomprince: what is ironic is that many of the packages hosted by pypi can be used to make the website, and open id connect
[03:30:02] <realz> :P
[03:30:13] <realz> like this is one of my go-to websites for cool packages
[03:30:20] <realz> and its on life support ...
[04:10:39] <tomprince> realz: pypi isn't going anywhere. It is just being replace by a rewitten verion, and the current *code* is on lifesupport.
[04:11:34] <realz> yes I understand
[04:12:00] <realz> I am just pointing out that the new code can use packages on pypi
[04:12:04] <realz> I just found that funny
[05:35:11] <tomprince> realz: The old one does too: https://bitbucket.org/pypa/pypi/src/4272c77983e871ff2b0152841758fcda90919d46/requirements.txt?at=default
