[20:22:40] <Ivoz> you get a "We are sorry, ...." page though?
[20:23:01] <Ivoz> oh no I didn't
[20:24:05] <Ivoz> Oh they aren't redirecting their own http links to https pages...? T_T
[20:25:31] <Ivoz> arg its just randomly breaking
[20:25:50] <ngoldbaum> Ivoz: on your original link (with and without https) I get the "We are sorry, the page you requested cannot be found." message
[20:26:24] <Ivoz> I'm also getting it clicking on your https link
[20:26:42] <Ivoz> I'm asking this because I'm trying to get to their Visual C++ compiler for Python 2.7 package
[20:27:57] <Ivoz> I believe it's supposed to be at www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=44266
[20:28:08] <ngoldbaum> ah indeed, that doesn't work for me either
[20:28:17] <ngoldbaum> man, screw microsoft for breaking links like that
[20:28:43] <Ivoz> ngoldbaum, do you perchance run https everywhere
[20:29:18] <ngoldbaum> not that i know of
[20:29:27] <Ivoz> hmmm it seems to be just randomly breaking
[20:29:59] <Ivoz> I opened it for the first time in firefox; link worked. Re opened it a second time, and subsequent times... "We are sorry..."
[20:30:59] <ngoldbaum> yeah, i'm seeing similar behavior
[20:31:08] <ngoldbaum> maybe they're doing maintanence or something?
[20:31:22] <ngoldbaum> i might raise the issue on distutils-sig if it persists past the next day or so...
[20:31:40] <ngoldbaum> kind of a big deal for windows python users
[20:31:59] <Ivoz> seems sorta site-wide to MS tho
[20:32:14] <Ivoz> you'd *Hope* they'd be aware of it
[20:32:53] <ngoldbaum> seems to be widespread
[20:32:54] <ngoldbaum> https://twitter.com/search?f=tweets&vertical=default&q=microsoft%20down&src=typd
[20:32:59] <ngoldbaum> i see a few tweets about it
[20:33:15] <ngoldbaum> this is also how i check if an earthquake is real when I feel shaking :)
[20:33:20] <ngoldbaum> faster than USGS...
