(Back to #pypa overview) (Back to channel listing) (Animate logs)
[08:34:35] <pombreda_> Howdy! I am putting the last touches to a draft PEP to improve how we document licenses in Python packages metadata https://github.com/pombredanne/spdx-pypi-pep/pull/2 . Comments are welcomed on two remaining questions at https://discuss.python.org/t/improving-license-clarity-with-better-package-metadata/2154/63
[15:03:33] <recheck_> [so-setuptools] ModuleNotFoundError when using setup.cfg and version accessed with attr → https://stackoverflow.com/questions/58202909/modulenotfounderror-when-using-setup-cfg-and-version-accessed-with-attr
[15:26:21] <Siecje> I ran a script that installed pip using the get-pip.py script. https://dpaste.de/q5gQ How can I uninstall that pip?
[17:38:28] <toad_polo> Who has ops here? Can they ban recheck?
[17:40:24] <di_codes> +1
[17:58:52] <sangy> not clicking on that link but is that grounds for a ban? :S
[18:25:11] <toad_polo> sangy: It's a bot.
[18:26:19] <toad_polo> Several people have complained about it and AFAICT no one asked for it, so I'd say it should be banned until the creator makes the case that we should have it in here.
[18:27:47] <toad_polo> The links themselves are safe I believe, they just go to stack overflow.
[18:53:58] <sangy> ahhh, I see
[18:54:09] <sangy> yeah uninvited bots is bad irc etiquette
[20:23:26] <ngoldbaum> toad_polo: dstufft, EWDurbin and sumanah are ops in this channel
[20:23:40] <ngoldbaum> toad_polo: FWIW the incantation is "/msg chanserv access #channel list"
[20:24:24] <ngoldbaum> dstufft, EWDurbin: what do you think about kicking and banning this recheck bot, i personally find it makes this channel less useful and i think others agree
[20:26:32] <EWDurbin> hmmm, i'm not sure who set it up.
[20:28:03] <ngoldbaum> recheck_: anyone in there?
[20:44:48] <recheck_> [so-virtualenv] Non-ASCII character '\x90' executing pserve on windows inside virtualenv → https://stackoverflow.com/questions/41029001/non-ascii-character-x90-executing-pserve-on-windows-inside-virtualenv
[20:44:50] <recheck_> [so-virtualenv] Upgrade python in a virtualenv → https://stackoverflow.com/questions/10218946/upgrade-python-in-a-virtualenv
[20:44:52] <recheck_> [so-virtualenv] ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'deeppavlov' in jupyter notebook → https://stackoverflow.com/questions/58207216/modulenotfounderror-no-module-named-deeppavlov-in-jupyter-notebook
[20:44:54] <recheck_> [so-virtualenv] Django gives 404 Error from previous project → https://stackoverflow.com/questions/58206694/django-gives-404-error-from-previous-project
[20:47:46] <tos9> ... :(
[20:48:03] <tos9> I had recheck ignored, but now that it got kicked I see it again since it rejoined with a new nickname hooray...
[22:05:51] <ngoldbaum> oh that's why i'm seeing it again
[22:10:38] <ngoldbaum> it looks like it just popped in on september 12 out of no where
[22:10:41] <ngoldbaum> http://kafka.dcpython.org/day/pypa/2019-09-12
[22:10:52] <ngoldbaum> no one said anything about it before it started
[22:11:04] <ngoldbaum> EWDurbin: ^
[22:47:43] <pombreda_> recheck_: where are you from, Mr. bot?
[22:51:10] <pombreda_> ngoldbaum: it sounds like this is from https://github.com/ssbarnea/harem/blob/7c6e7cd5f55857c6692a9ca8fc86c522cc309e5c/apps/rss-bot/config.yaml
[22:51:21] <pombreda_> we could submit a PR to mute this :D
[22:52:10] <pombreda_> zbr|ruck: I am not sure your BOT behavior is welcomed at this stage
[22:53:00] <pombreda_> zbr|ruck: I am sure this with all the good intentions... but that's a tad noisy
[22:54:16] <pombreda_> ngoldbaum: it is possibly a mistake, I do not see evil there based on the repo
[22:55:46] <pombreda_> EWDurbin: see https://github.com/ssbarnea/harem/blob/7c6e7cd5f55857c6692a9ca8fc86c522cc309e5c/apps/rss-bot/config.yaml
[23:13:49] <toad_polo> In any case I think we should ban it.
[23:14:36] <toad_polo> I don't think there's any ill intent, but it's not needed here.
[23:38:25] <EWDurbin> perhaps someone should open an issue requesting they remove it so they're aware
[23:38:33] <EWDurbin> in the event that they change the name of the bot or something.
[23:38:52] <EWDurbin> banning would work in the meantime, but isn't necessarily the most robust solution
