(Back to #pypa overview) (Back to channel listing) (Animate logs)
[09:12:44] <decentral1se> Hey folks, I've just tried to install my project with setuptools 41.4.0, pip 19.2.3 and packaging 19.2 and seen a "'SpecifierSet' object has no attribute 'split'" stack trace
[09:12:57] <decentral1se> https://github.com/ansible/molecule/issues/2350
[09:13:15] <decentral1se> any pointers on where to start looking would be much appreciated
[15:24:45] <exarkun> "ERROR: Can't verify hashes for these requirements because we don't have a way to hash version control repositories:"
[15:24:57] <exarkun> is hashing version control repositories on the roadmap somewhere?
[15:31:57] <sumanah> Hi exarkun
[15:32:09] <sumanah> so this is partly related to https://www.python.org/dev/peps/pep-0458/
[15:32:17] <sumanah> which is on the way for PyPI https://github.com/pypa/warehouse/issues/5247
[15:32:43] <sumanah> exarkun: more info https://github.com/pypa/pip/issues/4732
[15:32:47] <sumanah> (on hashes specifically)
[15:32:59] <sumanah> oh gosh, I'm sorry, I misread what you were saying exarkun
[15:33:05] <sumanah> _version control_ repositories
[15:33:17] <sumanah> sorry for answering the wrong question, TUF is on my mind
[15:33:59] <sumanah> looking at https://github.com/pypa/pip/issues/6469 which is more relevant
[15:34:01] <exarkun> I have heard nice things about TUF. I'd probably rather be thinking about TUF. :)
[15:34:46] <exarkun> Okay. Someone else has come across this same challenge. And no one has closed the issue as wontfix. So I guess it is just waiting for someone to implement it?
[15:34:53] <sumanah> pradyunsg: ^
[15:35:03] <sumanah> (I'm not sure)
[15:36:14] <pradyunsg> sumanah: will take a look in ~10 minutes or so.
[15:36:19] <sumanah> :)
[15:41:45] <sumanah> thanks pradyunsg
[15:51:52] <pradyunsg> exarkun: 6469 that sumanah pointed out, is likely the relevant issue.
[15:53:15] <pradyunsg> exarkun: There's no roadmap for pip -- if we have concensus on what we want to do, that gets implemented and reviewed/approved by maintainers, it'll be a feature in pip. :)
[15:53:25] <sumanah> pradyunsg: ok but hold on :)
[15:53:46] <sumanah> there is something like a "we'd like to do these things soonish" set of features/discussions for PyPA in general
[15:53:57] <sumanah> it's not a concrete roadmap, but some things are clearly preferred over others
[15:54:10] <pradyunsg> ^ yep.
[15:54:44] <sumanah> so would you say this is something that -- as far as you know -- would probably get approval, or is connected to things other people seem to want?
[15:56:34] <pradyunsg> Yea, I *think* so but I'm not super comfortable saying yes, partly because I've not had much time to take a look. :)
[15:57:25] <sumanah> ah
[16:30:03] <pradyunsg> sumanah: https://github.com/pypa/warehouse/issues/6783 -- is the "Screenshot Required" part at the end of the good-first-issue description, intended to be there for non-frontend issues?
[16:30:28] <sumanah> crap, thanks
[16:30:37] <sumanah> fixed
[16:30:53] <pradyunsg> thanks for the quick fix! ^>^
[17:11:10] <pradyunsg> pombreda_: are the single backticks (`) in the Licensing PEP, intended to be monospace blocks?
[17:44:23] <pombreda_> pradyunsg: you caught me: I guess I got my ReST markdowned :D
[17:48:45] <pradyunsg> pombreda_: https://github.com/pombredanne/spdx-pypi-pep/pull/8 for the copy edits. :)
[17:49:23] <pradyunsg> I didn't go further, since I realized that I hadn't actually budgetted time for this and was eating into my PyCon India talk preparation time. :O
[17:53:39] <pombreda_> pradyunsg: thanks :) I applaud to you ability to budget time :D I wish I was able to do such planning
[17:53:43] <pombreda_> *your
[17:54:49] <pradyunsg> pombreda_: lol. I'm not that good. This was literally, "okay, I'mma sleep at midnight, let's split the time between these two things in a 30-70 ratio." :P
